Los Tremolo Kings are a New Orleans band playing cumbia, chicha and other Latin styles honed over a four-year residency at the Central City restaurant Casa Borrega. Los Tremolos Kings, like true New Orleans musicians, season the classic Latin forms with a blend of jazz, surf rock, mambo and secret ingredients to create their own unique sounds. Guitarist Phil ‘the Tremolo King’ Vanderyken uses wah-wah, distortion and echo to create a mesmerizing soundscape over the hypnotic grooves laid down by bassist Rene Coman and drummer Doug Garrison, also known as the rhythm section for the legendary group, The Iguanas. In 2023, talented singer and songwriter Margie Perez joined the group. Check out their music video of their version of the mariachi classic “Senderito de Amor.” 2025 has a full album release set, including a Latin lounge-ish rendition of the Velvet Underground’s “Femme Fatale.”
