Jimbo Mathus is saddled up and ready to ride into town. He is heading toward the Quarters and the Blues Breakdown Show, with your hostess "The Problem Child".
Jimbo Mathus was born and raised in Mississippi and learned the music as it was passed down through the generations. Part of his raising was done by his nanny, Rosetta Patton, the last living child of blues legend Charlie Patton.
Jimbo also played in Buddy Guy's band. He was an overnight sensation in Squirrel Nut Zippers. That Neo-Swing traditional band the hit right at the height of the Cocktail Nation/ Swing craze of the 1990s.
But, lately he has come home to his roots. Recording numerous albums in the last few years. He also plays with the South Memphis String band with Alvin Youngblood Hart and Luther Dickinson (from the North Miss. Allstars and the son of Jim Dickinson).
Jimbo and the Tri State Coalition is riding shotgun and will throwing down, Mississippi style, tonight at Chickee Wah Wah.
So, be sure to tune in today, between 2-4 PM and hear Jimbo and friends play live, on the air and having a friendly chat with the Problem Child.
So, keep your eye on the horizon, and lookout for Jimbo Mathus & the Tri State Coalition.
