The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation presents an exhibition of photographs by Randolph “Mookie” Square, Jr. The opening reception will be Saturday, June 10, from 6-9p at the Jazz & Heritage Gallery.
Per the Jazz & Heritage Foundation :
The exhibition features more than two dozen photographs of the vivid street culture of Square’s beloved Tremé neighborhood. It also includes paintings by Noelle Goodson and Elise Bellard-Russell – some of which are directly inspired by Square’s photos.
Mookie Square is a well-known figure in his native New Orleans. He is a steadfast fixture of the city’s famous street culture, documenting second-line parades, jazz funerals, festivals, concerts and all manner of cultural celebration in photographs that capture the spirit and vitality of the New Orleans.
The exhibition will be on display through July 28. The gallery’s regular opening hours are Monday through Friday, from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
